Want Shotgun?
Written by Administrator

Image  Anyone interested in riding shotgun at the Baja 500 this year?  Well, ok, it's not really shotgun, you get to ride in a chase car and you get an all expense paid trip there.  So, it's still pretty good.  Well, at www.igotshotgun.com they are giving away a trip to do just that.  You could ride with Team Hummer in this year's Baja 500, get to meet legend Rod Hall and ride in a chase car.  All you need to do is create a video clip that's under 2 minutes, showing your "storytelling savvy, awesome interview skills and unique take on pop culture's biggest events".  Read more about it at http://www.igotshotgun.com

Nobody said he was smart
Written by Timothy Janssen
Thursday, 26 April 2007

In my usual morning of browsing the news, I came across an insteresting story.  Apparently, a Bridgeport, CT man decided to trade in a Jeep at the same dealership he allegedly stole it from.  Jazrahel King, 29, was arrested after a sales manager recognized the 2003 black Jeep Liberty as the vehicle that was stolen earlier this year.

King was trying to trade it in for a larger vehicle.  After inspecting the vehicle, the police found that the temporary plates on the vehicle belonged to the dealership, and documents inside the vehicle indicated it belonged to the dealership.

Now come on, if you were dumb enough to steal the vehicle in the first place, wouldn't you be smart enough to:

A:  Not try to trade in the vehicle from the same dealer you stole it from
B:  Get new plates for the vehicle
C:  Remove all papers indicating the vehicle belonged to someone else

I realize this isn't really a Darwin Award type thing, but it sure has that feeling about it.

You can read more about it here.

Nick and his '88 XJ
While browsing the web, I came across this article on a conversion of an '88 XJ to an electric vehicle.  Seems Nick has decided to take his old Cherokee and see how many batteries he could cram into it.... Actually, it's a well thought out venture that apparently cost him over 10K to do.  It's an interesting idea, and I support him all the way.  Way to go Nick.  Here's what he has to say.

"Many people have asked the question "Why did you convert your Jeep to an Electric Vehicle!?" There is no simple answer I can give you to explain why I decided to convert my Jeep to an Electric Vehicle. Instead, I can answer that question by discussing the pros of electric drive systems versus Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) and why I believe in what I'm doing."

Read more about it on Nick's webpage at www.DriveEV.com.

Ok, so here's the deal.  As much as I'd like to keep the news section updated myself, I just don't have the time.  So, I'm looking for help from others.  Maybe you've taken your 4x4 out for a trail ride, maybe you've done an upgrade to it.  Maybe you've just visited someplace that you think others might want to read about.  In any case, sign up for an accout and submit your news.  After it's reviewed it will get a post on the front page for a couple days so that others can read about it.  You can also put a link to your own webpage in it.  So, sign up, and help me out.

As a side note, I resepect your privacy, and I hate spam mail as much as the next guy.  Therefore, any information that you have to submit for the account activation will not be given out to anybody... period.

Rear Bumper Design
Phase 2 Rear Bumper Design
After much sought after feedback on my rear bumper design, I have entered and mostly finished phase 2 of the design.  There were many comments that I got back.  Not one of them bad.  Everyone was positive, and had good ideas, most of which I've gone ahead and incorporated.  I've also mostly finished the rear tire carrier.  So, now that has been posted as well.  You can read more about it here.
